Sree Veeranna Chigateri has spent over 50 years contributing to both business and philanthropy. His leadership in the textile industry led to innovative products like lightweight bulletproof jackets, making a notable impact on India’s security sector. He is deeply committed to education and oversees nine schools in Davanagere, which offer quality education to underprivileged students.
Rooted in a family legacy of philanthropy, Sree Veeranna continues to honour this tradition. His late wife, Surekha Chigateri, was equally dedicated to educational causes, actively supporting the family’s initiatives in Davanagere and Bangalore. Together, they have made lasting contributions to community welfare and accessible education for marginalised groups. He is a father of four, with children settled in the UK, US, Singapore, and Bangalore.

Sree Murugendra Chigateri is the President of Sree Jagadguru Jayavibhava Educational Society (SJJES), a 62 year-old family-run institution in Davanagere, Karnataka. Under his leadership, SJJES continues to uphold its legacy, having educated nearly 15,000 students, including through one of the city’s first high schools for girls. Murugendra is modernising the institution by integrating digital technologies to prepare students for a tech-driven future.
He is also the founder and CEO of Techmantu Digital, a consultancy that supports businesses across sectors in harnessing digital media for growth and innovation. His professional background includes significant global experience in the USA, UK, and India, which he now channels into driving digital transformation in both his business and educational endeavours.

Sree Belagavi Basavarajappa, a Chartered Accountant since 1985, plays a key role in shaping the financial strategy of Sree Jagadguru Jayavibhava Educational Society. With extensive expertise in system and bank concurrent audits, he has provided specialised services to cooperative, nationalized, and grameena banks, ensuring financial stability and compliance.
Beyond his professional achievements, Sree Basavarajappa is deeply committed to community service. He has held leadership roles in Rotary as treasurer, secretary, and president, and served on the Board of Management at Davangere Urban Co-op Bank. He was recently appointed as the treasurer of the Veerashaiva Maha Sabha’s Davangere district unit.
As Vice President of SJJES, Sree Basavarajappa is dedicated to furthering the society’s mission of providing accessible education, contributing his financial expertise to strengthen the institution’s growth and sustainability. Married to Smt Shantala, they are blessed with one daughter.
Sree Manohar Chigateri has served as the Secretary of SJJES since 2018, continuing a family legacy established by his grandfather, Sree Veerabhadrappa M. Chigateri, in 1962. Manohar’s uncle, Sree Veeranna V. Chigateri, oversaw and expanded SJJES until 2019, and today, his brother Murugendra leads as President, with Sree Manohar Chigateri overseeing daily operations.
An alumnus of SJJES himself, Sree Manohar joined the society in 1997, becoming an executive member in 2013. As Secretary, he manages nine schools with 80+ staff across two campuses, serving around 1,500 students. His efforts contributed to the grand success of SJJES’s 60th Founders Day celebration in 2023.
In addition to his role at SJJES, Sree Manohar introduced fashion and design courses in partnership with Vogue Institute and launched a Bachelor’s program affiliated with Kuvempu University. He has also held positions in cooperative banking and organised the South Indian Powerlifting Championship in 1999.
Smt. Sowmya Basavaraj is the Joint Secretary of the Sree Jagadguru Jayavibhava Educational Society (SJJES), proudly upholding a family legacy of dedication to the institution. Her grandfather, Sree M K Shivappa, was the founding Vice President, and her uncle, Sree M K Rudresh, served as Secretary for many years. Her father, Sree M K Bakkappa, contributed 28 years as Joint Secretary, making Sowmya’s role deeply meaningful.
An alumnus of Shrimati Gurubasamma V. Chigateri English Medium School, Sowmya credits the institution for shaping her academic journey. She is now an Assistant Professor at SBC First Grade College for Women and Athani PG Centre, with impressive academic credentials: an M.A.F. with a first rank and gold medal, an M.Com. (5th rank), and an M Phil, as well as a PG diploma in Marketing Management. With 16 years of teaching experience, Smt. Sowmya brings her dedication to supporting the growth and mission of SJJES.
SJJES was founded in Davanagere in 1962 by Sree Veerabhadrappa M. Chigateri and others, to provide affordable education to all members of society without any profit motive.
