SJJES began its journey in 1962 with just two schools and an enrollment of seven students. Today, over 50 years later, the society has educated nearly 15,000 students, and it continues to grow. Currently, SJJES operates nine schools, including two Nursery Schools, two Primary Schools, two Higher Primary English Medium School, and three High Schools, all dedicated to nurturing young minds and fostering their overall development. SJJES relies on its 80 strong staff members to deliver its education programs. These 80 members include head-masters, teachers, peons, accountants, cooks, cleaners and watch-men, to name a few.
With 36 years of experience, Smt Veeramma Shivkumar has been a cornerstone of GVC Higher Primary School since 1988. As Headmistress, she passionately teaches Kannada and Hindi to 6th and 7th-grade students, instilling in them, a love for language and learning. Her dedication to teaching is matched by her love for reading, and she is known for her deep commitment to nurturing her students’ academic growth.
An alumna of the school, Smt Veeramma brings a unique perspective to her leadership role. Her passion for education and long-standing relationship with the institution make her an invaluable asset to the school community.
Smt Shailaja Sulipal Devara Math has been an integral part of Sree Veerabhadrappa M Chigateri Higher Primary School for over 33 years. She Started her career as an assistant teacher at GVCHPS Narasarajpet Campus and transitioned into a leadership role in 2009, where her dedication to education has shaped countless young minds. As a passionate educator, she teaches Kannada to 4th-grade students and nurtures a love for learning through cultural activities like group dance, singing, drawing, and crafts.
An alumna of Akkamahadevi Girls High School (AGHS) from the 1982-1985 batch, Smt Shailaja embodies the values of her alma mater, inspiring students with her vibrant approach to teaching and commitment to holistic development. Her multifaceted talents and enthusiasm for cultural and academic growth make her a cherished figure in the institution.
Sree Suresh Naik Ganga Naik, with 26 years of experience in education, leads Akkamahadevi Girls High School with dedication and passion. Holding M.A., B.A., and B.Ed degrees, he teaches 10th-grade students and is deeply invested in their academic growth. Beyond his professional role, Sree Suresh is an enthusiastic singer, actor, storyteller, and poet, with a passion for reading novels. While not an alumnus of the school, his creative spirit and commitment to education make him an inspiring leader for both students and staff.
Sree Nagaraj Siddhalingappa has served at our institutions for 25 years, during which time he led the school as Headmaster for 12 years, fostering academic excellence in Social Science and Kannada for students in 8th to 10th grade. His passion for teaching is complemented by his love for sports, books, and music, which he often integrates into his approach to education. Sree Nagaraj is deeply committed to helping students achieve their best inside and outside the classroom.
Under his leadership, the school has grown in stature, and his holistic approach ensures that students are well-rounded individuals equipped to face future challenges.
With 16 years of experience, Sree Ningappa Hanumanthappa is Head Master of Gurubasamma V Chigateri Higher Primary School. A dedicated educator, he specialises in teaching Social Science to 10th-grade students, where his passion for reading, teaching, and sports shines through. His energetic approach and commitment to extracurricular activities like bike riding and picnics foster a vibrant learning environment.
Sree Ningappa’s leadership and multifaceted interests inspire students to excel academically and personally, making him a key figure in nurturing young minds and promoting well-rounded development.
Sree M.T. Malagi, a retired headmaster from Davangere, Karnataka, dedicated over 30 years to high school education, specialising in Social Science and Kannada. He served as Headmaster at Akkamahadevi Girls High School and has continued his educational impact as a consultant at Sri Jagadguru Jayavibhava Educational Society. Known for his commitment to student development, he played a key role in guiding students in Youth Parliament Competitions, and as a resource person for SSLC evaluations.
His involvement in educational and literary associations includes serving as President and Secretary of the Davangere Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishad, and he is currently the Honorary Vice President of the Davangere District Yoga Federation. Recognised for promoting small savings among students, he received a government accolade for his efforts. His contributions to education were further honoured by the Davangere Metropolitan Corporation during Kannada Rajyotsava, celebrating his lifetime of service and impact.
Smt Vagdevi Ramchandra, a distinguished alumna of Akkamahadevi Girls High School (AGHS), joined SJJES as a Science teacher in 1979 and retired as Headmistress of Sree Jagadguru Jayadeva Murugarajendra High School (SJJMHS) in December 2014. Over her 35-year career, she fostered excellence in academics and extracurriculars, especially through the Girl Guides program, where her guidance helped students earn prestigious awards, including the Rajya and Rastrapati Puraskars. Her commitment to science education led students to achieve top honours in state and national competitions, with one student representing Karnataka at an international conference inaugurated by Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam.
Smt Vagdevi’s contributions were honoured with the State Best Teacher Award and Special Science Teacher Award. Post-retirement, she rejoined SJJES as Academic Counselor and is currently in charge of the Vinoba Nagar Campus
SJJES was founded in Davanagere in 1962 by Sree Veerabhadrappa M. Chigateri and others, to provide affordable education to all members of society without any profit motive.
